Kids are on duty!

In language, we created "making a cake" book.
Firstly, we prepared all the materials to make a cake. We checked the recipe step by step. Then, we worked all together to have the cake ready. In each step we took a photo. After we ate our delicious carrot cake, we checked our photos together.
Then we talked about the photos and wrote a sentence for each photo.
Finally we created our own cake book. Here is a video of kids making a cake.

"What do you see?" in the picture

The children choose a picture from the box. And the classmates ask "What do you see?", students talks about it. Then students ask more questions such as: "What are they doing?, How are they feeling?, Where are they? etc." In this activity students are learning to inquire what they see and ask different types of questions to learn more. After oral discussion, the student who has the card is writing about what he/she sees in the picture.

Reading Partners

The students are grouped and each student has a reading partner. They choose and read a book together. They enjoy choosing books related to their interest. First they look at the pictures then talk about the content of the book. They read the words easily if they know it, if not, they sound out the words and try to read it correctly.
If students like the book, they could share it with whole class. This activity time is very engaging for them. Here are some photos;
